VACW Elementary & Middle School States {Culpeper Wrestling}

Sophia's first match at states.   But first...don't her little braids look cute?
From Each Day....
Oops, this don't look good for her.  And she asked me why I only took one photo. All I could say was "Girl, that was a fast match!"   In her defense...this guy WON states. She quite honestly did not have a prayer.
From Each Day....
The second match went a a full three rounds. She even gave him a bloody nose and I thought she was going to win but he was a little stronger than her.

Culpeper Wrestling Federation

One of our little guys got hurt during his match in Hampton and you never know if they are hurt or HURT.  Most of the time you can tell if it is serious or not but they never take any chances. He has more energy than any little guy I know and I just love to watch him wrestle.

Jeremy is tending to the little guy.

Makes you just want to run out and hug the little guy.

Really wish I could remember if he one this match or not. I did get him to muster a little smile though.

VACW Elementary & Middle School States {Culpeper Wrestling}

I have not blogged in a while....been incredibly frustrated with my download speed of my computer. Don't know what is going on but it is driving me crazy. I have had pictures to post but the thought waiting 1 hour for it it upload  was beyond what I have been willing to do. Lets see just how long it takes me to do this one blog. Starting time 7:04pm

The kids went to States a couple of weeks ago and really had a great time, the parents really get into it too.

Till had a great time and did really well. His dad was a stitch to watch too. He is the one in the background with the video camera

The way he was bending and twisting you would think that he was on the mat too. Don't remember what place Till got but I do know that he won a medal was so pumped. We were a little concerned his head was not going to fit in the car. Way to go TILL!

Time: 7:23pm  (and I already had these pictures uploaded to picasa google)

His mom.....I think she has forgotten that she has a camera in her hand.
From Each Day....
Yup, definately has forgotten about the camera.
From Each Day....
He won! See you had nothing to worry about.
From Each Day....
And it never fails. If I am on this side they face the other way.
From Each Day....
Ok...so it has taken me 53 minutes to do this blog. The photos were already uploaded so we cannot blame it on that.  So frustrating.

Homemade Granola

From Each Day....
All measurements are approximate. If you don't like a certain ingrediant, don't add it.
In a large bowl mix together:
6 cups of Old Fashioned Oats.
1 cup of sunflower seeds (out of the shell)
3/4 of a cup almonds  (slivered or sliced, just not whole)
3/4 of a cup chopped pecans
Add any nuts you like or have on hand. I have also added ground flax seed and wheat germ. Just be careful not to add too much.

From Each Day....

Spread onto a sheet pan and toast for 30minutes at 325 degrees stirring occasionally to toast the oats.

From Each Day....

In a small sauce pan melt:
1 stick of butter

Once that is melted add:
2 tsp of vanilla
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 cup of honey
3/4 cup of brown sugar
Stir until mixed well and smooth. Does not take long and be careful it will burn.

Remove the oats and nuts from the oven and return to large bowl add coconut:
14oz bag of sweetened coconut

Pour honey mixture over the oats and stir well. I use my hands to get the oats well covered.
Return oats to the cookie sheets, split between two sheets for quicker toasting. Place in oven for 10 minutes making sure the edges don't burn.

From Each Day....

Remove from oven and let cool. This is the important part. If the mixture is not cool and you add the craisins, dates and raisins they will get hard.
From Each Day....
Once cooled stir in:
3/4 cup of craisins
1 cup raisins
8oz box of chopped dates

Place in an airtight container. This should keep for about 1 month.
Wonderful on yogurt!

Happy New Year and a few other things..

Happy New Year!

I was so excited to have gotten the Christmas cards finished, unfortunatly I did not get them in the mail until Tuesday. Oh well, better late than never. Right?

From Each Day....
My youngest was chosen to bring home the classroom gerbil named Theodore. This was a big event for Carter but an even bigger one for Ozzy the cat.  The poor cat has been about to crawl out of his skin trying to get his teeth into this little critter. Fortunately Theodore is used to being around  dozens of little kids and is not the least bit bothered by the cat.

From Each Day....

So close yet so far away......good bye!
From Each Day....

My husband and I went out for a while and when we can home we saw this.
MOM:  "Carter, uh, what are you doing?"
Carter: "Cleaning the microwave mom, duh! Can you get me a spray bottle?"
Mom: "Whhhhyyyyy?
Carter: Looking at me like I have a 3rd head..."Because it is on the top of the microwave and I cannot get it clean."
Imagine my confusion...they are cleaning up after themselves.

That was then, this is now, a little game.

Can you match who is who from 1969 to 2010?
Write your answers in the comment section. The comment section does get kind of glitchy but keep trying, I really want to see your answers.

Something I have been doing for the past two years is converting my in-law photos from slides to digital.
It has been fun seeing my husband growing up and the changes that everyone has made.

Go back forty one years to 1969 and it is Christmas Eve at Jeanne and Buddy Bryants home, my husbands aunt and uncle. The traditional family photo.

From Each Day....
Jump forwatd to Christmas Eve 2010 at Susan and Mike's home.  I thought it would be fun to take a photo of the original Willis girls and thier children. There are four people not in this picture that were in the orginal photo. Daddy Earl, Uncle Buddy and Granny Willis have all passed away. Barbara was not able to make it (we missed you Barbara)

From Each Day....
Merry Chirstmas!
