If a tree falls.....

Our house and yard is work. Lots of work. More work than I want to do or have time to do. So, in an effort to ease some of the work we are making changes.  We have 3 plus acres of yard with a shebang full of trees. A shebang full of oak and hickory trees that also equals acorns and hickory nuts. LOTS of hickory nuts. There are not enough squirrels to eat all these nuts and I don't have the desire to keep raking and shoveling them up just so I can mow. This is the yard before the tree removal.

Sure it is much prettier with the trees for right now...we need to plant grass. But now I can park in the driveway without the trees damaging the cars.

So then after paying what seems like a Kings Ransom we were done, or so we thought. I got a call from my son while I was at work.."Mom, a tree fell down." Uh, what do you mean a tree fell down? We just had 24 trees dropped and REMOVED, what do you mean a tree fell down?
Yup. A tree fell down.
A big tree. I does not look big in this picture but it is.

We also had a birth at our home. In the garage. I thought they were dead. I was afraid we had locked the momma out of the garage, away from here babies because it was too quiet for too long. But nope they are alive and well and trying to fly. Their fuzzy little heads are so cute!

  1. Have you had lots of rain this year. Too much rain will cause a tree to fall if it is old or if it has shallow roots. Always sorry to see one go though... they take so many years to grow.

I think your yard looks just fine without the trees Krista and I don't blame you a bit. All that raking, yuck! I'd much rather plant flowers!!
